Stage-Global offers a dedicated internship placement service for the J-1 Intern program, helping international students and recent graduates secure internship positions in the United States and obtain our J-1 sponsorship. Our placement service matches you with vetted U.S. host organizations, prepares your DS-7002 training plan, J-1 Intern sponsorship by Stage-Global and guides you through the full J-1 visa process so you can start your internship with confidence. Most of our host companies are located in major U.S. cities, including New York City, Miami, Los Angeles, San Diego, and more.
To qualify for the J-1 Intern visa, you must meet one of the following requirements:
Schedule a free intake meeting with Stage-Global to review your eligibility, program requirements, and visa regulations.
Don’t see your field listed? Let us know about your background during your intake meeting. We regularly place participants in many additional fields and are happy to discuss your options.
Placement timelines vary depending on your field, experience, and location preferences. We recommend applying at least 3 to 6 months before your desired program start date to allow sufficient time for placement, sponsorship processing, and visa preparation. Last-minute placements may be possible depending on availability, so please contact Stage-Global to discuss your timeline.
Stage-Global provides a housing guide to help you find suitable accommodations in the United States. We offer practical guidance, recommended housing websites, and local tips to support your search. Many participants choose to book temporary accommodation, such as a hotel or Airbnb, for their first few nights so they can view properties in person before signing a lease.
If you graduated from a post-secondary institution more than 12 months before your intended program start date, you may no longer be eligible for the J-1 Intern category. In that case, the J-1 Trainee program may be a suitable alternative. Designed for qualified graduates and early-career professionals, the J-1 Trainee program allows placements of up to 18 months and follows similar placement and sponsorship procedures.
Already secured an internship in the U.S.? Apply for your J-1 Intern visa and sponsorship directly through Stage-Global and get your required DS-2019 form quickly and easily. Learn more here.
Complete our online application form and schedule a free intake meeting with Stage-Global to discuss your goals, eligibility, and placement preferences. If accepted into the program, a $500 deposit is required to begin the placement process.
We review your documents (including your CV, transcripts, and passport) and help you prepare for interviews with prospective host companies in the U.S.
You’ll be assigned a Stage-Global Placement Coordinator who will be your primary contact throughout the placement process. We will start with a coaching session to ensure you’re fully prepared. Your coordinator will update you on new opportunities and is available for any placement enquiries.
We introduce you to suitable host companies, coordinate the interviews, and support you throughout the offer and acceptance process. The remaining program fee is due only after you have successfully secured a placement.
Once your placement is confirmed, Stage-Global prepares your DS-7002 training plan, collects the required visa documentation, processes your J-1 sponsorship, and issues your DS-2019.
We provide guidance for your U.S. Embassy or Consulate interview, along with pre-departure resources covering housing, insurance requirements, travel preparation, and arrival in the United States.
Throughout your internship, Stage-Global provides ongoing support, including compliance monitoring, regular check-ins, assistance with Social Security Number applications and payroll (where applicable), as well as guidance on any program-related questions or concerns.
